With the support of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry, prospective new business groups/entrepreneurs focusing on sectors that are either traditionally related to technologies and technological innovations or not (e.g. traditional professions, which are diversifying, however, and introducing technological innovations) can now turn their business idea into a business. In a simple way, they can submit an online application for membership in the "Startup Support Incubator" ( THEA). , in order to secure free space, administrative equipment and specialized advisory support in their first steps.
Specifically, the A.C.C.I. aims to in the economic and social recovery of the metropolitan municipality of Athens and in the strengthening of entrepreneurship, proceeded to the creation and operation of an entrepreneurship incubator, where startups will be hosted , for a period of up to 18 months. The project is part of the NSRF-funded framework of the development program " Project Athens", which is implemented by the Municipality of Athens and the Athens Development and Tourism Promotion Company . The Incubator is expected to host, in total, 50 business schemes.
THEA will provide the following services to the businesses that will be hosted:
1.Hospitality of business groups with provision of secretarial and administrative support.
2. Specialized consulting services (market analysis, legal and accounting issues, business plan development, human resources issues)
3. Specialized education/training services
4. Networking activities to support business groups
5.Coordination and evaluation of the progress of investment teams
The benefits that hosted business groups obtain from their participation in the T.E.A. are:
- Modern operating environment, in a five-story building on 45 Kefallinias Street, within the geographical boundaries of the Municipality of Athens, with appropriately designed office spaces, meeting rooms and common areas.
- Modern infrastructure and provision of equipment that reduce the initial capital required, as security, cleaning and secretarial support services are provided. In addition, coverage of fixed operating costs, consumables and other expenses is ensured.
- Common interests and goals at an operational level.
- Professional support networks, which ensure that businesses receive the appropriate help to overcome their difficulties before they escalate and endanger the existence of the business.
- Providing advisory support on management, marketing – sales promotion, legal and tax issues, etc.
- Promoting collaboration between business groups.
- Access to capital to finance the start-up business for its short-term operating needs and long-term investments.
- Provision of training seminars – workshops on management issues.
ENTRY PROCEDURE IN THE THERMOCOTIDA
It only takes 4 simple and short steps to participate in THEA:
1st STEP: Expression of Interest
Sending a description of the business idea via an electronic form on the site www.THEAthensincube.gr , where the idea, products or services that the candidate business plan intends to develop will be analyzed in detail, with an emphasis on innovation and differentiation.
2nd STEP: Initial Check – Innovation Identification
The submitted data is checked by the competent group of executives of the E.B.E.A. and by external experts-partners. If it is documented that the products/services that the candidate company will develop incorporate innovation, the request is forwarded to the competent Business Ideas Evaluation Committee, in order to make the final evaluation for entry into the Incubator.
3rd STEP: Evaluation by a special Business Ideas Evaluation Committee with the participation of "Business angels" "E.B.E.A."
The Evaluation Committee, which will also include the "Business Angels of E.B.E.A.", Based on the results of the second step and a personal interview, it proceeds to a thorough evaluation of the submitted proposal, in accordance with the evaluation criteria for entry into the Incubator, and decides to approve or reject the application.
4th STEP: Entrance to the T.E.A.
This last step takes place when the application of the candidate company/business scheme has been approved by the Incubator. In this phase, the following takes place:
· information about the responsibilities/obligations and rights of guests at the Incubator
· signing the required agreements with the terms of use of the premises and services by the
business/business entity.
