The European Organization for Lifestyle Medicine completed its 2nd European Congress .
The second conference of the European Lifestyle Medicine Organization (ELMO) took place on 8-10 November 2019 in Rome, Italy. Healthcare professionals from all over Europe and beyond attended the two-day European conference and participated in the parallel workshops.
Dr. Valentini Konstantinidou, founder of DNAnutricoach, is a founding member of ELMO, since 2015, holds the position of ELMO ambassador in Spain while also coordinating the organization's Nutrition working group. During the 2nd European Congress, Dr. Konstantinidou also participated in the scientific committee of the congress. In addition, she presented the achievements of Nutrigenetics by explaining the historical review of this scientific field, the main studies to date, the ways of applying Nutrigenetics in clinical practice as well as the state of the global market in the field.

These diseases are also known as chronic diseases, while recently the WHO (World Health Organization) has named them as Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs).
These include cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic lung disease, and an ever-increasing number of mental illnesses. 68% of deaths from non-communicable diseases can be prevented through diet, physical activity, stress management, and other environmental factors.
At the 2nd European Conference, the organizers invited Greek Prof. Antonia Trichopoulou, President of the Hellenic Health Foundation, for a Keynote Lecture, who spoke about how the example of the traditional Mediterranean Diet, as a dietary model and way of life, can contribute to achieving the United Nations goal of sustainable development.
